Maryland Delegate Anne Healey and 22 Other Delegates Have Introduced Legislation, HB-1358, Restricting The Use Of Tanning Beds By Teenagers Under 18 Years Of Age.

Maryland Indoor Tanning Salon Owners are opposed to new restrictions on tanning services. This is really a Ban On Teen Tanning!

We need everyone involved in this effort: salon owners, clients, parents, employees. The HELP DEFEAT MARYLAND TANNING RESTRICTIONS link is live with an option for salon owners and an option for everyone else. Everyone is encouraged to personalize their message.

The age of consent in Maryland is 18 years. We have always required written parental permission before allowing our under-18 clients to use our services.

This bill requires either prescriptions for tanning from a physician or the under-18 clients to be accompanied by a parent or guardian every time they use a tanning bed.

These new restrictions are unreasonable. The proposed regulations in HB-1358 should not be approved.

We encourage everyone to contact your Maryland District Delegates and Senator, Delegates on the Economic Matters Committee and Governor O'Malley with your thoughts and feelings on these proposed new restrictions on indoor tanning services.

The State of Maryland should not make it illegal for our under-18 clients to use professional indoor tanning services.
